The Gaston County Museum strives to inspire diverse audiences to consider their shared histories through the art and history of Gaston County, NC and its surrounding region.
We were honored to assist this historic institution in entering a new phase of service to the community by spearheading a comprehensive rebrand, starting with a new logo and culminating in a refurbished web presence.
A doorway to discovery.
Work began with a reimagining of the Museum's identity. We crafted a logo based on the concept of a “doorway to discovery.”
The icon shape is based on the Museum’s windows and porch. This serves as a visual callback to the physical space. The icon’s complementary rectangles also echo the shapes of both a picture frame and a corridor, and represent the combination of art and history found at the Museum.
The rhythm of the word mark is contemporary and clean, while the tagline’s typeface grounds the identity in the Museum’s history.
Market comparison.
An effective brand will not be a radical departure from comparable identities within the market. However, it should still have the strength to stand on its own for years to come.
