Farewell, Buddy.

Forty-time pole position winner and 19-time NASCAR race victor Buddy Baker recently passed away. The South Carolina native was the first driver to turn in a lap of more than 200 mph at the big track in Talladega.

A genuinely good person and gentle soul, The Sumner Group had the privilege of working with Buddy some years ago on a campaign for Pharr Yarns, which we shot in Buddy’s garage.

Though he will be missed, we reflect on Buddy’s words: “Do not shed a tear. Give a smile when you say my name.”

We will, Buddy. We will.
